My Powershot SX240 won't connect to my windows 10 PC via USB. There's a beep when I plug the USB in, but the camera does not appear on File Explorer. It appears on the list of Connected Devices, which means it must be connecting in some way, but underneath it says 'Driver is unavailable'. According to Canon, I don't need a driver. So what can I do?

Make sure your Windows is up to date. Make sure your computer has an active internet connection the first time you try to make the USB connection.

Thanks for this. Windows us up to date and internet connection active. Any other ideas? For example, any idea what Windows means by drivers, when Canon says there are none?

No solution, but I did find another Windows 10 computer which would accept my camera, so I have the pictures. Original; problem still remains, however.
