truly a lovely place. For the training aspect, I think I got a bit carried away shooting at f/22, which likely introduced diffraction. I also had a UV filter on, which Marc and ebiggs1 have since explained is generally unnecessary and can negatively affect image quality. Looking back, I notice more softness and less detail than I would have expected or wanted. Using a slightly wider aperture, removing the UV filter, choosing a faster shutter speed, and allowing the ISO to rise a bit (I’m still breaking free from the “everything must be ISO 100” mindset) would probably have produced better results. Still learning and living

We took a day tour to Butchart Gardens in Victoria BC leaving from Vancouver last year. Lovely place. So, for the training bit I think I got carried away with f/22 and there was diffraction. Also I had my UV filter on (which Marc and ebiggs1 have been explaining that I should not use). I noticed more softness and lack of detail than I would have expected/wanted.

Slightly wider aperture, no UV filter, faster shutter and allowing ISOs to get up to at least a bit higher to compensate (I am still getting used to that from "everything must be ISO 100" mentality) would likely have resulted in better image quality. Living and still learning here 🙂 Sharing so that other "mere mortal" enthusiasts might learn from this mistake. Still pleasant to look at, but could have been a bit better I think.

I like this last the best. Sunset was on the ferry from Victoria back to Vancouver ending a fun day.
