Thank you, Brian! Yes, the mannequins made this quite easy. Will attempt with an actual person soon.

You'll really enjoy the RF 135mm; has IS which is very handy, and unlike the EF version, is now weather sealed.

One interesting thing is that the RF version's minimum focus distance is 70 cm (down from 90 cm). Though portraits at that distance seemed to distort* facial features a bit (I need to repeat that to confirm). So for the above images, distance was around 88 cm.

* it could have been something to do how much the camera needed to tilt to capture the entire head. For the above images, I just needed to tilt left/right & up/down by 5º. But when at 70 cm, more tilt was needed.

100% view of the eyes:

These are fabulous, thanks for sharing them. It’s a good job the model could hold the pose for individual frames.

Also reminds me I really need to try out the RF 135mm F1.8L lens sometime, though I’m worried that it might make my “vintage” EF 135mm jealous.

Hi Ricky,

Great job! At first, I thought, these models look to perfect. Then I read your response to Bryan, and it all made sense, they are mannequins! 😄 Love it! In any case they're grate photos, nice job.

Can't wait to see your portraits of real live models.

😊

Very late reply, but I did manage to capture a panorama portrait (9 images) of a live person.

Setup was easy since I had taken notes on measurements at home. Then fine-tuned light placement. Same clamshell setup though also had an extra "global" fill light going through LEE 400 diffusion (very similar to LEE 216).

Photoshop work was more intense since I needed to hand-blend more things due to her slight movement. Still, the first image captured covered both eyes and full mouth so that got all the important areas to get in focus. Total capture time of all 9 images was perhaps around 35 secs.

Final image: 11,531 x 13,998 pixels

100% View
