I picked up an FL 1200 f-11 lens on eBay during the pandemic, modified (shortened) the focus unit and added an EF mount for cine and stills shooting. The accompanying snap was with an EOS 5D MkII set to 1/90sec (slowest speed that surprisingly didn't exhibit blur) at ISO 1600.

The 1200mm focal length was bolstered with two FD 2X, plus one FD 1.4X converter, for a total of 6720mm. The lens was stopped down to f-22, but I lost five stops to the tele-converters. I boosted brightness and contrast, then reduced noise, in Photoshop.

My beautiful lens is showing the first signs of mold on the back of the rear element, and I've removed the retainer ring but discovered the rear section must be removed to free the element from the inside. If anyone has access to the service manual, it would be MUCH appreciated!

Chris ~Moon with FL1200mm featuring Clavius and Tycho
