I have been working this summer on a long term project called ,"Working Birds". It features birds (Mostly Steller's Jays) perched on man made objects. Mostly tools though I have been branching out into other perches such as musical instruments. My primary camera is a Canon EOS R6 Mkii though when I started the project I was using a Canon EOS 7D. Lens wise I started with a Canon EF 100-400. I have since moved up to a Canon RF 100-500mm lens. This is an image from the collection, the camera settings were AV mode, ISO 12,800 (try that with a 7D!) F 11.0 at 1/320th of a sec. Steller's Jay

I would love to photograph a plain old Blue Jay. I have only photographed one in the front range of the Rockies many years ago. They are working their way westward!
