BIF - Great Blue Heron, Cormorant, Osprey

These were shot in Jacksonville, Fl. All using a 5D mark IV and EF 100-400L II with the Canon 1.4 extender. I particularly like the Great Blue Heron shot because of the way the sun is reflecting onto its wing from the water. Interesting effect. All were Raw and edited in DPP4 then framed and cropped with Corel PhotoImpact X3 (old rebranded ULead program).

Great Blue Heron

Double-crested Cormorant. Cormorants are diving birds and will perch on the bank to get dry. These guys were coming out of the water one by one. Being strong swimmers, they launch themselves out of the water with their webbed feet.

This is a different bird hopping out of the water. The darker orange on the face and bill of some denotes sexual maturity.

Osprey. These raptors feed exclusively on fish and are sometimes refered to as "Sea Hawks". This is a juvenile.

Beautiful photographs. One of my most favorite photographic birds is Blue Herons. They travel slowly and are big enough to look nice at long distances.

I do as well. The light on the underwing from the water, although subtle, adds a lot to the image.
