A Most Delightful Mess

So, I want the RF fisheye zoom. I want it BAD.

The angel on my shoulder says "You have a fisheye lens. You should use it to see if you need the fisheye zoom", while the devil on the other shoulder says "Buy it! Buy it!! It will make you the next Ansel Adams. Buy it!!!"

Because the devil was imperceptibly over the top I listened to the angel, and mounted my trustworthy Rokinon 8mm fisheye on my R8 via a genuine Canon converter, forgetting that it's an APSC lens. I originally bought it for my Digital Rebels and have used it on my R100, but not often. I've been punishing my cantankerous R8 by exposing it to the ignominy of me shooting with film cameras instead! So, I let it out of the naughty space and went shooting.

My forgetfulness amused me.

Given that the Rokinon was an APSC lens on a full frame camera, I got a messed up result that I liked.

The angel is laughing because I discovered a failure that will be fun to exploit and the devil is cursing.

The devil hasn't realized yet that I still want the fisheye zoom.

Shhhh!!

I was shooting and thought "What in heck is wrong?" When I reviewed the images after the first five or six, I suddenly figured it out. THEN it was game on. It was like getting a free Lensbaby lens just for forgetting the APSC thing. Thank you for taking the time to view my error and to comment, much appreciated.

I feel like I'm looking at an old slide presentation with that black border. Seems like something I'd see cinematically. The evil clown in the first pic is the one in every childhood nightmare. I hope it doesn't visit me in my sleep. Maybe Bozo will run him off for me.

I love quirky cameras and odd lenses. Today I inadvertently united both and found something creative. The next Ansel Adams? Hardly, but I will shoot more. Thanks for "getting it". I do appreciate that.

I once knew an airline pilot making great money. He quit the job because he really loved flying, but not as a job where it became drudgery. He started making ends meet working fast food, then got a job with the FAA where he made a profession. I feel for any photographers that do it more out of rote and a paycheck than joy. I hope they can balance that out to ensure there is enough fun for them. Thankfully for me it's all just fun - even the frustrations of learning by failing still fits into the fun "envelope". I hope your attitude of rejoicing in fouling up is contagious. Fouling up has led to many a new invention.

I think they are all pretty unique and the first one of the clown is creepy, my favorite but should be in a horror flic
