Sunning Ahinga

(sorry, not sure why the top of the photo is cut off in the gallery view, and don't know how to fix it) The local county fair has contest in a LOT of photography categories. One is "B&W Animal". Given that we live in a rural county I think the judges are expecting farm animals, so my entry isn't likely to get an award. But, as I don't have any farm life photos I was thinking of the photos that I had that might look ok in B&W and this anhinga came to mind since it is largely a black and white bird. I was pretty happy with the results so I'm sharing it (again - was in color last time and had to crop a bit to print this 8x10) here.

I really like that a lot. Our local fair keeps collapsing categories. There used to be a cars section, but now cars are lumped in with objects even though the number of car entries was vastly larger than object entries.

Thanks Lee. The area is very rural. I'm thinking of submitting this one in the "Still Life" category - seems fitting, and a bit whimsical.
