California Condor R5 Mark II & RF200-800mm F6.3-9 IS USM Handheld

The California Condor is critically endangered; once extinct in the wild (1987), now slowly recovering through intensive captive breeding and reintroduction programs. Their wingspan is about 9.8 ft. It can weigh up to 26 lbs. They can live up to an average of 60-70 years. They are pure scavengers that feed on large mammal carcasses (deer, cattle, sea lions and whales). They dominate most scavengers excep Golden Eagles, whose talons they respect despite outweighing them. In comparing the California Condor and the Turkey Vulture, the California Condor is significantly larger than the Turkey Vulture, with a wingspan of up to 9.8 feet compared to a Turkey Vulture's wingspan of about 6 feet. Additionally, California Condors can weigh between 18 to 31 pounds, while Turkey Vulture typically weigh around 2 to 4 pounds.
