Golden Eagle R5 Mark II & RF200-800mm F6.3-9 IS USM Handheld

This Golden Eagle caught me by surprize as it buzzed above me. I barely had enough time to raise the camera, sight it and shoot. My lens was opened to 800mm and I didn't have time to adjust it to the proper distance to catch the whole body. However, I did a get a great close up of the head as it regurgitated a pellet (you can see it in the bottom right corner. Golden Eagles, like owls and other raptors regurgitate pellets consisting of indigestible parts of their prey, such as bones, fur, and feathers. Golden Eagles primarily consume small to medium sized mammals and birds and pellets that they produce can provide valuable information about their diet and hunting habits.

Q: Why don't Golden Eagles do group projects?

A: Because the moment someone says "let's work together," they drop them off a cliff to test commitment. 😁
