topic Completely Manual Fax Receiving? in Office Printers

I have an Imageclass MF4570dw multifunction printer with FAX. Although I'm a retired IT specialist an a fair user interface programmer, I'm still finding the FAX settings of this machine very confusing.

The machine shares my one telephone line with my voice telephone. The voice telephone is not plugged into the machine, as it is elsewhere in my home.

I very rarely receive faxes, and when I do, I'm always expecting them. So, what I want is purely manual FAX receiving. When my phone rings and I know it is an incoming FAX, I want to simply press a button or two on the machine in order for it to answer the call and receive the FAX.

In the FAX Standby screen accessed simply by pressing the FAX button, I see that my "Rx Mode" is indeed "Manual". So logically, there should be something I can do "manually" to get the machine to ansewr a call which I know is an incoming FAX. If I press the OK button while on the "Rx Mode" item of the screen, I see an option to "Answer". If I scroll to that option and press OK, it does not answer. It does nothing.

Duhhh. Please help.
