Canon image runner C5560i - 1 sided printing

Can anyone tell me why this copier cannot do 1-sided to 1-sided copying? It can print from your computer 1-sided, but when making copies on the machine itself, there is no option to do this (only 1-sided to 2-sided, 2-sided to 2-sided and 2-sided to 1-sided). Our only workaround (which is annoying) is to just do the 2-sided to 1-sided and to take out all of the blank pages and put them back in the machine. Or is there a way to set this up on the machine? Thanks!
