Called Canon, got a really nice rep named Pete. There is a "work around" using MF Toolbox and setting custom 1, but have to add Adobe to the events tab of your scanner. Seems silly for the end user to have to do programming on a newer machine that has gone back in time.

I use Acrobat Pro to scan documents. I am connected via USB. Is there a way on the MF8580cdw to make Remote Scanner a default so I do not have to hit: "Energy Saver" then: "Scan" then: move down to "Remote Scanner" every time? Seems like a step back in time??? Especially if I am not sitting right next to the unit. Hopefully I am missing something easy.
