Canon MX 310 printer won't print.

I have a Canon MX 310 printer, I just downloaded the last version of the OS X operating system from Mac. I tried everything, but can't seem to get it to work/start printing again. any suggestions would be helpful. Should be noted that i'm not that computer literate.
