Hi all,
I am approaching 1 year with my Canon MF753Cdw (purchased secondhand, but factory-reset) Up until today I’ve had no issues with it. I set the System Manager ID and PIN back then too, but forgot it. Haven’t really needed it, so it hadn’t crossed my mind to investigate, but I see there is a firmware update available but I can’t apply it without the credentials.

Spoke to a Canon rep about 30min ago and was given a procedure to follow:

Press Home

Press volume button once

Press the red STOP button five times

Press volume button once, again — at this point, a menu/prompt should appear

Enter 43810

Tap “Apply”

I’ve seen this procedure referenced on Reddit, along with the following variation that seems to work for the MF632Cdw:

Press Home

Press the blank space between Sleep and Home

Press the blank space betwen Home and Stop

Press the volume button

Press stop — at this point, the device should display a SERVICE MODE menu.

Problem for me is that neither of these procedures work on my machine lol. I’m not sure what else to do.

Any ideas? I suspected the Stop button wasn’t working (since I honestly have not ever used it) but I can confirm that it does work.

Update 1: I figured out my remote access username and PIN. Still no clue what the System Manager ID and PIN are that I set lol 😞

UPDATE 2: 800 attempts of the two procedures later, I finally got into SERVICE MODE!

Went to COPIER -> FUNCTION -> CLEAR -> ALL, and the PIN was cleared + I could access the Management Settings menu to do the needful.

It pays to never give up, lol! The “second” procedure (that there is video evidence of working on the MF653Cdw) is what worked for my MF753Cdw.
