Hello, we just purchased a MF656Cdw laser printer and it worked well printing from laptop and intermittently from mobile device. It was intermittent i believe due to the printer frequently going into sleep mode. Today, the printer does print from mobile or from laptop so i entered a timeframe to disable the sleep mode. We looked at multiple troubleshooting ideas we found in this forum and the remote UI. We feel like there is something simple we are missing and are almost to the point of starting from scratch with the initial setup. Any help would be appreciated. Today the printer does NOT print from mobile or laptop.

You do not say what operating system, computer, or type of network you are using, but before disabling sleep mode you may want to try reinstalling the printer, but this time do so using the printer's IP address, and then setting that IP address a static both on the printer and on your router.

MREG, this answer saved my printer woes today! My new MF656cdw was taking 12 minutes to print every single page, displaying a "waiting" message during that time. I reinstalled my printer using its IP address, and NOW IT'S WORKING! Thank you so very, very much for this suggestion!

I have been having the same issue with my new MF665Cdw printer. I mostly print from my iPhone and iPad. Randomly these devices can no longer find/communicate with the printer. When I check the printer, it is in sleep mode. The control panel is unresponsive and will not wake up. I have to reboot the printer for it to function again.

I too have searched for an answer to this issue. I have tried every control panel option suggested as well as the Remove UI console suggestions. The printer will not stop going into this horrible unresponsive sleep state. There is no option/setting to prevent the printer from entering this sleep state. The printer has the latest firmware installed.

If anyone has found an answer to this issue, I would much appreciate it.

I too tried setting the "Sleep Mode Exit Time Settings" hoping that this would wake up the printer every morning. Unfortunately, this does NOT prevent the sleep lockup situation.

I disabled sleep mode and IP assigned no longer changed.
According to their spec, idle power consumption is 11 Watt and iSleep mode is 0.7 Watt. So idle state uses less power than the lowest power incandescent night light. Suggestion: disable sleep mode. PS: I don’t have admin access to the router, so static IP is not an option to me.
