topic LBP646Cdw: Unable to select "heavy 2" paper option for multipurpose tray in Office Printers

Hi. I just purchased the LBP646Cdw Color Laser printer and I'm very excited to use it.

According to the official specs, it supports printing on cardstock up to 200 gsm. Specifically, 160 gsm for regular paper and 200 gsm for coated paper.

I put the cardstock in the drawer and configured the paper settings. There is only one drawer and the multipurpose tray, so I had to set the drawer one toe "heavy 2" and letter.

First, I tried using the android app to print. The first problem there: the app recognized my printer, but isn't aware of a drawer. Any print job started from the app only allows me to print from the multipurpose tray and tells me (correctly) that it's empty.

I asked grok and found a workaround: I can configure the printer such that it always uses the drawer by default and never the multipurpose tray.

But now, the next problem occurred: the printer tells me "no paper" and I can select `cancel`, `drawer` or `tray`, but `drawer` and `tray` are greyed out: the tray because it's empty - and the drawer because it has cardstock (heavy 2) loaded and not the expected normal (?) paper. At least this is how grok interpreted the situation: the app is not capable of selecting heavy paper.

So I followed the suggestion and used MS Windows to print.

Indeed, after the driver installation I get canons advanced printing options and can select the drawer as paper source and - behold - `heavy 1`. But no `heavy 2` and the result is still the same: the printer says "no paper".

For now it looks like Canon software is hopelessly out of date and/or not in-sync with this printer.

My whole experience was already weird and annoying.

Is there a workaround to actually print on heavy cardstock (the `heavy 2` option in the print)?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

PS: why does my printer not even exist here?
