Rick,

The printer does have a static IP. All of our printers have static IP's. The printer that it currently in use is a replacement for an earlier model that malfunctioned. We have various Canon's throughout our facility, different models, that have never suffered from this issue. After powering off/on, the printer seems to work fine throughout the day. When the issue was first reported I could not log in through the UI. After powering offf/on I could then login in via the UI. I plan to upgrade the driver version tonight to see if that helps.

Thanks,
Tim

Since this printer was purchased, which wasn't that long ago, it's had to be powered off and back on every morning in order for the users to print. It's on the network. I've maxed out the power saving settings to no avail. Firmware is up to date. Right now the driver version is 2.90. I'm aware that 3.20 is available but I haven't installed it yet.

Thanks for joining the conversation, tjfitz68!

So that the Community can help you better, we need to know exactly which Canon printer model you're using within the imageCLASS MF750 series. The model number should appear on the front of the unit at the lower right. That, and any other details you'd like to give will help the Community better understand your issue!

If this is a time-sensitive matter, click HERE search our knowledge base or find additional support options HERE.

Thanks and have a great day!

Greetings,

Based on the limited information you provided this is probably related to network configuration. After you power cycle the printer, log into the admin portal of your router and look at the list of attached devices. I suggest you asign the printer a static IP. This only has to be done once. Restart the printer again and refresh the list of attached devices on the router. Confirm that it's using the IP address that you've assigned. You can also confirm by opening a web browser and entering the IP address in the address bar, it's remote UI should display.

Give it 24 hours and let us know what happens. If this doesn't solve the problem for you we will uninstall the printer from your machine and reinstall it as an IP printer. As before this is a one-and-done process you will never need to worry that the IP address of your printer is going to change and any device on your network will always be able to find it at its destination IP.

Greetings,

This issue has been very tough to solve. After doing more research, please try the following and provide feedback to me when possible.

Open the remote UI and login as System Manager. Navigate to Settings / Registration > Preferences > Timer Settings. Then all the way down to the bottom. Enable Sleep Mode Exit Time Settings.

Try setting a time like 6AM or something that corresponds with typical usage or business hours. After the setting has been saved power cycle the printer. In order for this setting to work properly the network must provide correct date and time. It might be provided by your network hardware, NTP server, etc.

Unfortunately I have not been able to recreate this behavior on either one of my MF series printers. I've tested with two or more brands of routers and switches. In all cases both of my printers wake from deep sleep when a print job is sent.

I gave it two days and it does wake up at 8am but no network at all. So we have to power off and power it on for the network to come back.

Greetings,

Since the device has a 3-year warranty have you considered contacting Canon support? At this point you have done a reasonable amount of troubleshooting. I can't reproduce the problem.

Start by registering your product in your MyCanon portal. Then contact support.

Greetings.

I think I mentioned this elsewhere but it's certainly something to try. If I'm not mistaken Windows uses Port 9100 by default, but the printer is set to use 515.

Change Protocol to RAW (Port 9100): In the printer's network settings on your computer, change the printing protocol from LPD to RAW, which often resolves waking issues. I think the printer comes set to use port 515 LPD by default.

Try changing the printer's listening port to 9100. You can do this in the remote UI or from the Canon print app.

Yesterday morning I updated the printer to the latest firmware. I don't know what it was before but it's now: Main Controller is Ver. 8.01, Boot ROM is Ver. 02.04, DCON is Ver. 10.02, Language is Ver. 01.17.

This morning we were able to print without turning the printer off and back on. We are testing again in the morning. I will post the results here.
