topic Confused About GX4020 Repair – Ink Leak Despite Precautions in Office Printers

Hi,

I recently sent in my Canon GX4020 for repair because it suddenly stopped working. I followed all the recommended packing instructions: I secured the print head, set the ink valve lever to maintenance mode and packed everything carefully as advised by Canon.
Now I was informed by the service center that they’re unable to repair the unit because it arrived completely soaked in ink. They also mentioned that the ink valve lever was no longer in maintenance mode upon arrival.
My question is: could the ink valve lever have shifted out of maintenance mode during transit, possibly due to rough handling or the package being thrown around?
I can't believe that this happened, printer is almost brand new

Thanks in advance for any help!

Greetings,

The maintenance lever moving in transit seems unlikely.

There isn't much you can do about it now, except work with Canon on a replacement.

Same thing happened to me 2 months ago. shut off the valve and sent the printer in for service.
A few days later I got a message saying it arrived completely messed up and they couldn’t fix it.
Their solution? Told me to buy a new one. Felt like a total rip off.
Ended up switching brands instead and now I’m happy.
