MF424DW 2-sided Printing causes paper Jam

It used to work fine. Then, I would print double sided and it would print the first page and then make an accordion out of 1/2 of the page and jam the printer. I would turn the printer off, remove the jam and then it would work. Now, it just does the same thing and jams and won't print 2-sided anymore. Please Help. Thank you.

If the unit has any maintenance tasks available, and they haven't been already run, give them a whirl.

Something may be out of alignment. If so, a call to Canon Customer Service might be worthwhile.

I had already run the maintenance tasks and talking with a service rep did not solve the problem. It seams the solution is unfortunately "get a new printer".

Unfortunately, the cost to repair many smaller copiers often exceeds the price of a new/replacement unit. 😕

Yes, that has been true for almost all electronics for quite some time now.

What are you printing, and what paper?

Putting a lot of ink on ordinary 20 lb. copier/laser paper can make the sheet soft and flimsy, causing it to jam.

Hi normadel,

The printer in question is a monochromatic laser unit, so over inking won't apply in this instance.
