Hello, Just bought this model this year and am needing new toner. I didn't realize toner cartridges were so expensive for this printer (I know this was dumb) when I bought it and so I'd like to just default to B&W printing until I can get new cartridges since my Black toner has 45% left in it. I've tried multiple ways to override, checked the manual for options but have come up empty handed. Ironically, while the printer is unable to print B&W because the yellow toner cartridge is empty, it's all to able to print B&W status reports from the consumables. Somebody help, I'm close to just getting rid of this printer because the toner cartridges alone will cost more than I paid for it!

Well, if you're going to get rid of it because of the cost of the Canon toner cartridges, we cannot help with that. I for one will never recommend third-party cartridges -- others may. So if you're going to try to get it work in a way that it was not designed because it is too expensive for you to own, you will have problems. But you won't find better quality color laser output anywhere near the 653's price range.

I have 2 lasers. Both are Canon Color Cdw's. Consumables are not inexpensive. Canon makes monochrome lasers too, dw's. They just print black.

Yes but do you have a workaround or a solution for this issue? Because the price range doesn’t matter if each round of toners costs as much as a new printer and you’re unable to use just one of the cartridges.
