Cost of 054 Toner

Why does the genuine 054 toner cost so much? at around 110 dollars apiece. that is 440 dollars which is more that I paid for the printer. I can buy a new printer cheaper and just throw this MF641Cw away which is a waste as it works fine. I would rather buy the genuine toner but the alternatives are much cheaper at around a total of $50 which includes all 4!!! I do not mind paying more for genuine but this is ridiculous.

My MF644 uses 054 toner. The standards are about $80 bucks each. OEM toners aren't inexpensive, I agree. They cost more because the manufacturing standards and quality is higher. I decided to replace our inkjets with lasers. Toner is still costly but not as much as ink and it goes way farther. We haven't had any failures. No streaks, speckles and the colors are always accurate. If you consider the output and quality you get for the amount you spend, I think it's worth it.
