Canon GX1050 Cassette issue

Hi. I have a new GX1050. It won't print because it says "The cassette is not inserted" I have loaded it with paper and carefully inserted it, but it will not 'beep' when closed and the message won't change. Has anyone any ideas why this is or what I can do to remove the message and start printing? Thank you for your time.
