I have a Imageclass D1150 for many years. Just updated to Windows 11 on a Dell laptop. Canon info page for this printer indicates it is not Windows 11 capable...stops at Windows 10. Is there a work around other than buying a new printer. Thanks for any info you may have!

Have you tried installing the Win 10 software on your Win 11 computer?

Canon and other manufactures will say "not compatible" when they have not created drivers specifically for Win 11. You may find the Win 10 driver/software works perfectly with Win 11. This is common. I have three Canon printers and a scanner, and a Minolta film scanner , that "expired" with Windows 7 or XP, and all are being used with Windows 11.

You could also do a web search for "D1150 driver for Windows 11". I found a Windows 7 driver for an XP-only scanner this way, that someone had written himself. It has worked from 7 to 10 to 11.

@mglanger,

Quick question for you. The printer supports USB and ethernet connectivity. Which are you using?

If by chance you were using USB and connected the printer before running the installation software, this could cause a problem.

If This applies in your situation, unplug the device from it's USB connection, remove it from printers and scanners and then uninstall its software from programs and features in control panel. Now restart your computer.

Now run the installer again, this time do not plug in the printer until prompted to do so. Let us know if this helps. If you are using ethernet I will have another suggestion.

Sorry didn't understand your question. The Windows 10 Canon program program does install/load. It does appear in my applications. As previously indicated, it just doesn't recognize my imageclass d1150 for either printing or scanning.

Hereis the Starter Guide for the printer, in case you don't have it.

https://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/0/0300002150/04/D1100_Series_StarterGuide_en_us_R_1.pdf

Study the installation procedures for USB or network. Did you do it as the manual says? If not, uninstall what is already installed, reboot computer, and start from scratch.

UPDATE

Started from scratch. Downloaded the Windows 10 app from Canon website. Uninstalled all of my previous downloads and installed exactly per instructions. Both printer and scan function did not work.

Installed the old original software I received when I purchased the printer via CD disk. The scan function is now operable but not the printer.

Thanks everyone for your time and suggestions.
