New GX2020 purchased from Canon -unable to set my own admin. password

Last week I set up my new GX2020 printer and it works great! Love it. However when I tried to set my own administrator password to use the GX2020 UI, I could not. The GX2020 manual says the default password should be the printer serial number. That did not work. The manual also says I should see a "REMOVE ADMINISTRATOR PASSWORD" message on the printer screen. That option does not show up. I tried to just enter a new password and that did not work either. Hoping someone can help....

Greetings,

The default password should be 9 characters. The printer's serial number. 4 letters + 5 numbers.

My printer serial number is 9 characters - 4 letters and 5 numbers. Didn't work. Thanks anyway, Rick

New printers come with a 1yr warranty and free installation support. If the default password isn't working, I'd reach out to Canon.

I am having the same problem with the password neither cannon or the serial number would work .

Went to the front panel tried to put in a password there now it's all screwed up reset admin password is nowhere to be found in the menu. Printer is working otherwise I just can't adjust setting from the utility on the PC because it wants a password. the link is of no help as it takes you to virtual assistent with a limited selection of problems it can handle and passwords is not one of them .

It updated and then somehow I was able to print out settings and it allowed me to use the serial number from the printer utility to reset the password.

It updated the firmware while I was playing with it and I was able to print out the settings which said it had no password. Then I was able to use the serial number in the utility and reset the password.
