Hello all:

My Canon Color Laser has less than 1,000 copies. With a new black toner cartridge on board I'm getting sporadic, but frequent tracks of toner along the left border. Kinda looks like little ants tracking black drops of different sizes only along the left border about 0.5" wide. Removed cartridge and cleaned roller. No success.

What do I try to service next?

Get in touch with Canon Support. The contamination you are seeing is possibly being caused by something other than the toner cartridge itself. Something in the works, maybe.
