Recently had a power surge during a storm that turned off power for about an hour. When power returned, the printer display showed this message: "TURN THE MAIN POWER OFF/ON. E225-0001. IF THE DEVICE DOES NOT RECOVER, CONTACT YOUR DEALER..." Repeated recovery attempts have been unsuccessful. Has anyone ever had this happen and, if so, what was the resolution? I purchased this printer in 2015 and the local repair shop (small town) doesn't service printers.

Not sure this will work. Turn it off then pull the plug. wait for a bit and try it.

Hello,

The error would point to a problem with the hardware at this point. You can try unplugging the printer from the power and then pressing the power button 10 times while the printer is unplugged. After that, you can plug the printer into a different power source and you can try turning it on. If the error does not clear when the printer turns back on, it looks like the hardware is damaged.

Hi!

This error (E225-001) is triggered usually when there are some issues with the scanner initialization.

Generally, this is a hardware error which might be:
1. Scanner lamp might be dead;

2. The flat cable which links the scanner lamp and the scanner board might be defected (before replacing it, try to clean the cable contacts);

3. issues with SIC unit motherboard;

4. the most frequent issue: the CANON manufacturer included on the SIC unit motherboard a poor quality positive voltage regulator [78L18]. This IC might fail if the device stays connected to the AC power for a very long time. It is a 3-pin integrated circuit which makes the headache. Just check the voltage on pins 2 and 3 of this IC. There should be 18 volts. If there is more or less, you'll have to replace that IC.
