imageCLASS MF753Cdw Wakes up from sleep mode and makes noise

I just hooked up my color laser printer wirelessly to my computer. I noticed, that after it goes in to sleep mode, it periodically turns on, makes a few noises and then goes back to sleep. Is this normal for this printer?

It might be. This could be some type of maintenance. How often does it occur and does it happen at the same times etc?

Laser printers don't typically need to charge themselves, So whatever additional information you can provide might help.

It happens 4 or 5 times a day. I'm not sure if it happens at the same time or not, I will have to check on that.

I'm thinking its cleaning something, but that's just a guess. It might be something related to your network as well.

Tell us what the frequency is if you can.

the router freq is 2.4 ghz, would it be different if i put it on the 5 ghz?

I also noticed this. It seems to happen every 12 hours for me. At around 1:00pm and 1:00am every day.

Looks like this post was abandoned by the thread's starter. By frequency I meant how often? Not the frequency of your wireless network. The printer supports 2.4Ghz wireless, it will not connect to a 5GHz broadcast.

I suspect this is a maintenance operation. I'd recommend contacting Canon Support. The printer has a 3 yr warranty.

I just wanted to add a bit of a "me too" to this thread. I recently bought an MF753Cdw myself, and its also been doing this. Every once in a while, it sounds like its starting to "wake up" to print something, then a second or two later it stops and goes back to sleep mode.

I'm also connecting mine to the network via wired Ethernet, so I'm pretty sure all of these WiFi questions have nothing to do with whatever is actually going on.

My MF8350 Laser, connected to network by wire, does this. It's been doing it for years. Never thought of it as a problem.

I'm by a network wire also.

My guess is and it's merely a guess; that it's charging the drum with static, to make it faster for the 1st page out.

Anything else it could be doing?

Hello,

To check what might be causing the printer to make that noise or to see what might be going on, I would suggest contacting support over the phone at 1-800-652-2666. They can check your settings and the hardware to see what might be causing the noise and if it is maintenance function.
