I have a MFC844Cdw printer. It works fine, but intermittently during the day (and night) is sounds like it is starting to print. It sounds like the paper transport starts, it goes through some internal mechanical process (or something) and then goes back to "sleep". It does this when the printer is idle, at all times of the day (and night), the whole noise cycle lasts less than a minute, it will do this only a couple times a day. It doesn't print anything, and it stays in "sleep" mode through this process, no display, nor errors. It's mostly an annoyance, but can be a little startling when the whole house is quiet and suddenly the printer sounds like it is going to print something.

So a lot of other people are having the same problem, that's NOT A SOLUTION! Are there any solutions out there? It appears that this a common problem that Canon has just ignored. At least Canon could do is tell us what the heck the printer is doing, like stirring the toner, cycling the transport to prevent flat spots, fluffing the paper, or doing something else to pleasure itself.
