&lt;P&gt;From what you are describing, it looks like the feeder needs to be cleaned or there is a problem with the hardware. In this situation you can try an automatic and manual cleaning of the feeder using the steps in the link &lt;A href="https://oip.manual.canon/USRMA-3547-zz-SSM-740-enUS/contents/devu-mainte-clean-feeder.html" target="_self"&gt;HERE&lt;/A&gt;. If that does not improve or change the scan quality, it looks like the scanner needs service. You contact support over the phone at 1-800652-2666 to check your service options or log into your MyCanon account.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
