I have an MFC642. It prints fine over the network. How do I scan? I installed the Canon MF Scan Utility v 1.20.0.2. But every time I try to scan it says it "Cannot communicate with the scanner. The cable may be disconnected or the scanner may be turned off". WHY? I'm trying to scan over the LAN network, not WIFI and not USB.

eg.

What exact software do I need to do this? I am running Windows 10.

[Link replaced with the image it led to.]

Hello Kenw232,

The software looks like it is set to the USB option for scanning. In the upper right of the window, you can click on the drop down set to Canon MF642/643/644. In the drop down, you can select the network option for the scanner. If it does not appear, you can download and install the recommended MF644Cdw/MF642Cdw MFDrivers from our support site and select the network option for the install.
