Hello,

My ImageCLASS MF743Cdw is reporting a jam, to be fixed in 5 steps from the display
1) remove jammed paper
2) open back cover
3) remove jammed paper
4) lift the 2-sided unit
5) close the back cover

As soon as I close the back cover, it goes back to "2" OPEN THE BACK COVER

It's stuck in this repeating loop - there is no paper in any of the tray routes. I've tried everything including disconnecting the power & leaving off for 20 mintues.

This unit thinks it has paper in it - but it does not.

Any thoughts on a "hard reset" so I can get it working again?

Hello Carimer,

If you have already open the back cover and do not see any jams, you can also try removing the toner to check for any jammed paper or obstructions. You can also review the other paper jam areas on the printer using the steps in the link HERE. If you do not locate any obstructions in those locations, It would mean the printer needs service. You can contact our support team over the phone at 1-800-652-2666 or you can log into your MyCanon account.

Try reducing the amount of paper you insert. According to Canon, overfilling the paper tray is the most common reason for the tray's incomplete closure.
