MAXIFY GX7021 server settings communication problem, error 3423

hi. i have the Canon GX 7021 and logged in online to type in the mail server settings. i tested the settings and it says successful ,then i scan and it gives me the 3423 error everytime. fail to communicate with server. i've spent hours trying different settings and nothing works. any help is appreciated before i return it!
