I recently purchased a new imagewriter printer. I've now downloaded the software about eight times to my mac and I still use the device. Here's the problem. After I've loaded the program from canon website, I go to add it to the printers in my computer and it doesn't exist. I'm printing wirelessly if that matters. Will I have better results if I attach a usb cable between the computer and the printer?

Are you saying you download the software, double-click and install the software yet the Add Printer function doesn't find the printer? What version OS?

To date, Canon USA has not marketed any printers with the "imagewriter" name. We have, however, marketed printer models with names like imageCLASS, imageRUNNER, and imagePROGRAF. Please check your printer's model name and model number and let us know what you've got so that the Community can offer the right help. That, and any other details you'd like to give will help the Community better understand your issue!

Lets try this again as the moderator has informed me that Canon does not make an "Image Writer". You are so correct. It's a ImageClass MF644cdw. And a reply to the other person who posted. Yes, software had been downloaded but never appears in the printer dialogue for adding a printer. any suggestion would be helpful. Wireless works fine as the old printer still functions. Thought this was better printer but only time will tell.

Correct. This mac has a the latest updates and updates automatilcy.
