This looks to be the issue:

Page Setup is set to A4 but the Printer setup doesn’t know what A4 paper is.

[This example is MacOS Pages. I was trying to trobleshoot with the user’s MS Word file but that proved impossble as Word does not follow MacOS conventions.]

Hi folks.

I reset my MF645Cx trying to get it onto our network. (That’s a long story for antoher day.)

Now the printer will not print without a sheet of paper present in the MP tray.

How to configure the printer to pull from Tray 1 first? (Or is this a problem on the client computers?)

thanks Ste

Hello Woolverton,

The image above shows that the computer is using the generic airprint driver for the printer. That driver will not have the full list of paper sizes the printer can use. In this situation, you can download and install the recommended driver found at the link HERE. Once the driver has been installed, you can go into printers and scanners and use the - at the bottom of the list and remove the printer and then you can click the + to add it back.
