topic reinstallation of drivers caused print to become very faint in Office Printers

My Canon MF731cdw printer, which was connected by direct connection to my laptop, either would not print at all or would only print after a long delay, so I deleted it in Windows 10 and reinstalled it. This solved the problem and it now immediately prints on command but the reinstallation created a new problem. On the very first page I printed immediately after reinstallation the text was very faint whereas it was normal density before the reinstallation. I do not believe it is a cartridge problem as it never goes from full density on one page to suddenly extremely faint on the very next page when the cartridge is starting to run low. Also, I printed from the same pdf document before and after the reinstallation, and tried to print a different document but got the same faint result, so it is not a problem within the file I was trying to print.

I thought maybe Windows had installed obsolete drivers during the reinstallation that were causing the faint print problems, so I decided to download new drivers directly from the Canon site but when I tried to install them, I got a message saying that the old MF drivers need to be deleted first before I can install the new ones. However, I had already deleted the printer once again from Windows before I tried to install the new drivers.

What should I do next?
