I am having a problem with my ImageClass MF4890dw when I try to scan a document.

It usually starts scanning fine but when it seems it is almost done it stops, the printer beeps and shows the following message in the display: 'An error has occurred. (see below)

Also the MF toolbox software reports an error (see below).

My printer is connected through wifi and it works great when printing.

I have Windows 10, MAC and Linux and all three have the same problem.

Every once in a while I am able to finish the scan, and I get a perfectly good scan but this is may be 1 out of 30 tries which is unacceptable.

I have gone through the instructions in the drivers download page including installing the patch but it doesn't help.

I have updated the firmware to the latest.

I am feeling frustrated that I bought a scanner/printer combo and I just got a printer.

Please, let me know if there is anything else I can try.

Greetings,

Canon's recommended solution is here:

https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART164453&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US

I'd start with the Patch... which has specific installation steps.

[Windows 32-bit & 64-bit] Patch for Network Scan, USB Scan

I cannot confirm it as I do not own this printer.

Hi dasosamar.

Before attempting the recommended troubleshooting, double-check the MF4890dw's network connection strength. The strength should be listed as Good or better. That this is affecting the Linux computer means that the problem is likely somewhere on the network, such as a router firewall, subnet- or DNS-related communication problems, or use of VPNs. Another possibility is firewalls on each of the computers restricting large "blobs" of information over a certain size.

Did this answer your question?
