SELPHY CP1200 Won't Recognize Ink Cartridge

I own a selphy 1200. I purchased a ink/paper pack that is compatible however when I insert the ink cartridge, the printer does not recognize it. The printer states insert ink cartridge. What is wrong?

If the printer is in it's 1 year warranty, I recommend reaching out to Canon support for your warranty options. You will need to register your Canon gear HERE to access additional support options.
