Thanks for the additional info - going in and block (or in my case pausing) internet access to the printer on my router fixed the issue without having to turn off wifi for the entire home.

Hello all,

I have a Pixma iP110 printer that will not turn on. The printer is only pulled out of a drawer for printing on occasion, so it's not plugged in all the time. We've printed 2 times since mid-April to provide an idea of the frequency the printer is used. New toner was installed mid-April.

When pressing the power button, the toner moves (sometimes), the light flashes for 15 seconds (timed) and then the light goes out.

The printer is using WiFi, so it's not plugged into any computer.

Out of the 3 buttons, the light on the power button is the only one that flashes.

Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you!

I had the same issue today! I started using the printer maybe 2-3 weeks ago to print something about every other day, and it was working just fine, until a little earlier today. The last time I used it was 2 days ago.

I have a battery pack attached to mine, but I have since removed it and only had it running via the power cord to isolate the problem, and it still powers off after those 15 or so seconds.

Does your printer also make a slightly different vibration sound (like a low hum) than it usually does during the startup process? It also doesn't seem to finish it's startup process, likely because it powers off before it can finish.

Separately, the room temperature and humidity where the printer was used/stored have been higher than usual since I last used the printer successfully (2 days ago), and I'm wondering if that made something go wonky.

It is incredible because canon don't solve this issue, the printer don't boot because the WIFI module. Remove the wifi of your home (the sid that the printer uses) and this will allow to boot the printer, after of that reset the printer and try again.. (I don't find any solution yet)..

I have the same issue. Printing daily until about 4 days ago when I ran out of ink. Got new ink --- and the printer won't turn on. Light flashes for about 15 seconds, ink cartridges move, then it just shuts down. I have unplugged and plugged, Wifi light is off; cannot check wifi because it doesn't turn on for long enough. This feels like an update issue.

I also connect to my printer via WiFi, and it was working fine too (I think my family has had the printer for 7 years). I don't know if Canon has an automatic driver/software update setup for its printers, but hopefully if that's the problem, they can fix it.

It's been 3 days since I was able to use it properly and yesterday was when I discovered the issue of the "only power light is on/blinks, ink cartridges move and printer makes sounds for a few seconds, but then stops" regardless of direct power or battery powered.

For reference, my ink cartridges had about 50% left in them the last time I checked (a few days ago) and I've tried removing and re-inserting them in case it helped (it didn't).

There is may users with the same issue, not even with IP110 even with other printers.. In order to recover the printer.. (poweroff you wifi) or change the SID and the password. the printer will start, and only use as USB, the other option full reset, enable the accespoint mode, change the wifi and put a static IP and an MAC but a fake DNS or no DNS, (I don't try this work arround).

Ok I solve the ISSUE...

Is complicated, but you must avoid that the printer connect to internet.. you need to restart the configuration, config a new IP (no DHCP) and put a gateway that don't exist.. for example if you gateway is 192.168.1.1 you can put the gateway as 192.168.1.234 for example to avoid to the printer connect to internet.. and that is it... (you can try to said to the router firewall to avoid the conexion from the ip address form the printer.. (I don0t try this but must work aswell).

Same issue on my iP110 too. Turns off after about 15 seconds. Just started yesterday. Looking around these forums, I see it is multiple printers from Canon that experienced the same issue, all on the same day 5/31/2022. Desktops and mobile printers. Canon has an issue on it's hands and is radio silent telling everyone they have a hardware issue on their printer and need to buy a new printer on their "Upgrade Plan". H-E double L NO! They better come up with a workaround for this soon!

I used my personal Canon ip110 quite a bit at school to print out all sorts of things. I just moved my printer into my home office for the summer to continue working. My experience is the same as angelsfan1: The printer is powered on, it cycles through its startup, ink cartridges move back and forth, then all of a sudden it shuts off. The printer is plugged into my USB, so it's not Wifi related. I believe we all have experienced a software update that tells the printer to perform an auto-shutdown after 15 seconds. Unfortunately, the printer will not stay powered up long enough to perform an update or to restore a previous update. I had similar issues with a Canon Pixma printer about 5 years ago where it would not power up, even with a new power pack/cord. I am disappointed with Canon, because this is clearly not a hardware issue when we all are experiencing the same exact issue.

I also dont think this is a hardware issue.

The printer goes through all the normal turn on cycle functions and then the goes dead (no power light). You can repeat this over and over.

If you do this with the wifi network its trying to connect too turned off .. it does not die after cycling .. but shows the wifi not connected lamp - as you would expect

Then .. if you turn on you wifi network again .. it dies as soon as the network is up.

I am thinking about doing a reset settings on the printer but dont want to do that until I see if there is some better advice

Thanks !! It worked for me.

The techy explanation was too much, but I just turned off the wifi router and the printer went back on again, blue light is on.

Next step is to try and reset the wifi connection on the printer, but in all honesty, I may skip that and keep working with a USB cable from now on. I don't want another nasty surprise from Canon in a near future... Thanks again !! (You saved my daughter from missing a school deadline)
