Hello! I have a CP1500 and didn't found any driver. Just found your post and I'm curious if you are saying that driver for CP1300 is working with CP1500 too, or you say that for CP1300 there is a driver and it works? Thanks!

Has there been any update for Windows 11 drivers. The Microsoft IPP Drivers automatically updated and now the 1500 Selphy printer options are only A4 or Letter paper size (no Japanese Postcard) and only grayscale (no color).

When comparing to a Windows 10 PC I can see the correct settings in the printer properties but I cannot see them in the Windows 11 PC.

When will Windows 11 Drivers be made available for the 1500 Selphy Printer?

Windows 11 Driver - The most recent updates to Windows 11 have made the 1500 Selphy useless. The previous Windows 10 IPP driver (version 19041.1) worked correctly ... the most recent IPP driver (26100.1) does not work as it does not provide Japanese Postcard paper size options or color printing.

This renders the 1500 useless with a Windows 11 PC and using an app on a phone is not an option in our business and store application.

What are Canons plans to remedy this situation?

It does not work wirelessly or with USB with the latest updates to Window 11.

Windows 11 have removed support for Japanese Postcard and Color printing for this generic printer driver and unless Canaon are willing to create a dedicated Canon Driver (as they should do) then this printer is useless with Windows 11.

I am now in the process of rebuilding a PC with Windows 10 just to enable me to continue to use this printer for our business application. If this is not the definition of the cart leading the horse then I am not sure what is.

Canon need to step up here and provide a dedicated driver for this printer to maintain compability with Window 11. This should not be difficult or challening for a company the size of Canon.

Anything less than this will speak volumes to the Canon lack of customer focus or support.

I agree with Konio124 in terms of money back or a working driver. They are they only two acceptable paths forward.

Over to you Canon ...

Interesting; I got it working via USB now but won’t work via WiFi now - just gives the option for letter or A4 paper. I can’t even explain how the usb started working - it just did this morning. I’m on day 2 of printer ownership and don’t want to have to return it over something so simple - they say it works with PC, so it should. I spoke to Canon support today about it not working via WiFi and they had no solution beyond updating firmware (?) but blamed Windows updates. Insisted drivers are not necessary. I tried CP1300 drivers per another post, but no luck.

After having it working, not having it working, then having it working again, I can safely say that this printer will not function with windows until Canon releases a driver. Based on everything I have read, windows has scaled back their support of printers, particularly with custom paper size and pushed the ownership of those drivers to the manufacturer. Cannon is aware of the issue, but there is no way to get an update internally. I spoke to someone from support this week because my printer is useless to me, but is just over the return window (I’ve had it about 45 days). I asked if I could somehow create a ticket internally and have this escalated but they told me no and that basically it’ll get released if/when it gets released. I did let them know that this printer is still being sold under the guise of functioning with Windows 11, which seems like false advertising to me.

nothing anyone can do unless someone knows how to make a driver. That would fix all the issues. My printer was working for three days straight, and then I went to go print photos and suddenly Windows didn’t recognize it. After multiple installation attempts, I had to give up. If I would’ve had a driver, that issue would’ve been fixed in less than a minute.

I had a CP900 which wasn't supported on windows anymore. So I finally decided to buy the newest version available CP1500 to be able to print straight from my computer. Only to find out it's already not supported anymore.. at the day of buying. Very disappointing

I have the same issue. It's mind blowing to me that Canon just decided not to release a driver for this printer and not fix the printer so it works with IPP either for what seems like more than a year at this point?!!

The automatically installed IPP driver only offers Letter and A4 paper sizes in grayscale.

You can force the C1400 driver for C1500 printer, but then it errors out when you actually send a print job.

Insane choice from Canon!

My understanding based on talking to Canon support is that this is deprioritized. I would not expect to see a fix come out, though it definitely should. All they'd have to do is release the driver that was shared with the original IPP system.

Hi everyone,

I’ve been following this thread and watching your reports about the SELPHY CP1500 getting stuck in grayscale on Windows 11. I know how frustrating it is to load up your paper only to have those memories print in black and white!

I’ve done some digging into our internal guides and latest documentation to find out exactly what’s going on. Here is the scoop: Because this printer is designed to use the built-in settings already inside Windows—rather than a separate Canon installer—recent Windows 11 updates have changed how those Microsoft-provided settings talk to your SELPHY. Essentially, Windows is accidentally hiding your color and paper size options.

To get your vibrant colors and postcard sizes back, I've found that these are the most effective fixes:

The Best Workaround: Try opening your photo in the native Microsoft Photos app that comes pre-installed on your PC. I've found that this app "talks" to the built-in Windows driver much better than other programs and can often "see" the color settings that are currently missing elsewhere.

A Fresh "Handshake": Sometimes Windows just needs a reset. I’ve seen success by removing the printer from your computer's settings, restarting your PC, and then adding it back manually.

Update the "Brains": I’d also suggest double-checking that your printer is on the latest firmware (currently v1.0.7.0), which helps it play nice with the newer versions of Windows.

In my case, updating to version 1.0.7.0 completely resolved the issue on Windows 11. After the update, it was necessary to remove the printer from the system and then reinstall it. Following the reinstallation, the Japanese postcard size 10 × 15 cm (equivalent to the popular 6 × 4 inch format) became available in the print settings.

Hi Stephen!

I can confirm that the latest v1.0.7.0 firmware that was released a month ago on 17th of March 2026 finally fixes the IPP in the printer that was broken in the v1.0.6.0 firmware.

With this new firmware the printer now properly reports to Windows that it can print color and "Japanese (Hagaki) postcard" (3.94'' x 5.83'') as well as Metric Photo L (3.50'' x 4.69'') and Credit Card (2.13'' x 3.39'') paper size via generic IPP driver.

Thanks to Canon for finally addressing the broken printer after years of delay.
Better late than never!
