Trouble migrating to MyCanon Pro

Empty offers, incompetent follow-up, opaque communications

Canon sent me an offer: "You're Invited: Migrate to MyCanon Pro... You're eligible." Yet my loginid didn't work and the form to reset my password did nothing. The link never arrived in my inbox (or spam folder).

There's no phone or email or chat information to connect with Canon to figure out the problem. The only options are sales, product support, this community, and other unrelated options that imply "don't try to reach us."

If I can't login to MyCanon and can't reset my password, why would I trust Canon to be any more responsive or helpful if I (could) "migrate to MyCanon Pro"? I've encountered opaque businesses before, but Canon is past obsidian.

Greetings,

Maybe a little more context would help 🤔

There is no such product as MyCanon Pro.

MyCanon is a user portal that keeps track of your registered products. It also allows you to obtain support and manage your Canon experience.

I suspect the email you received might have been a phishing attempt, fake or SPAM. What was the email address it came from? Don't post any links, just tell us what the address was.

Canon is a very support oriented organization. Getting help is easy. There is no implication. Don't try to reach us. 😉 Help is always a phone call away.

The telephone number for support is1-800-652-2666. Chat and additional methods for contact are available in your MyCanon account.

https://myprofile.americas.canon.com/us/

How to get help or support is plastered all over the Canon USA website.

So again, I suspect the email you received was SPAM.

Um…, no. I followed the link at the end of the message, created a MyCanon Pro account, added my products, God’s in his heaven, all’s right with the world. When logging into MyCanon failed (using the username/password from my password manager) and the “forgot password” form didn’t send a link to reset it, I created a new MyCanon Pro account which is very definitely an option.

Not having heard of My Canon Pro before, I thought it might be fake. Looks like I spoke too soon. After more research I found it.

MyCanon Pro Migration | Canon U.S.A., Inc. https://share.google/XWVQmazg3Z5vnfsIU

There appears to be some caveats you may want to consider. It looks like it can wipe out e-commerce purchase history for personal products. There is also a link that allows you to create a MyCanon Pro account without migration, allowing you to maintain two accounts (business and personal). This might be useful for large organizations, but I don't think it's something that the average user might benefit from. Make sure you read and fully understand what happens to the information that is or is not migrated. The program appears to be geared towards enterprise customers.

I would recommend contacting Canon support to make sure it will be of benefit to you. 1-800-652-2666.
