topic Canon R6 MK II - SD Slot 1 Write Freeze in General Discussion

I've had this R6 mk II as a second body since 2023 maybe 40,000 shots if that.

Only used Sony Tough v60 cards, I've noticed lately that if the card read slot is selected on 1 it would freeze like waiting to write for any where between 15 - 30 seconds when taking a photo, or video clip but not if its on slot 2.

I thought it was the cards but have tried 3 other Sony tough cards and it was the same issue only on slot on if I turn the camera off and back on. After the initial write freeze it would work fine.

Is this an known issue or its a sign that the slot 1 is about to go.

Have you completed a low level format on these cards in camera? If not give that a try first. The standard formatting leaves some data on the cards, a low level will wipe all data on your memory card and reorganizes the file system. This is especially important if you use the cards in multiple bodies.

Greetings,

There is no, known problem with Sony cards I am aware of. I'm not a Sony user, but have you tried another brand (any) besides Sony. That should help with troubleshooting. Ensure you're formatting these cards in camera. I'd also take a look at the slot with a bright flashlight.

Last thing I would try is a factory reset of main and custom functions.

If you are using any 3rd party accessories, discontinue while troubleshooting.

If all that checks out, settings reset (then test without any customizations), checking slot, formatting in camera, testing with another brand card... Then the camera will need to be sent to Canon for inspection.
