Are second owners of Canon products not supported by the company? In order to get customer service you have to register your product. I can't register my perfectly capable printer, now retired (that's a joke), because I don't have the receipt with date of purchase. You can't possibly expect every person on this planet to purchase a brand new product everytime they need something. It seems wasteful to have a perfectly functioning product just sit there and be useless for no good reason. Does anyone know where I can get the software to use this printer? Any ideas on how to get support being a second hand owner without the original receipt?

You can download the necessary software from the Canon support site for your printer. However, if you purchased a device that is beyond the service life you may not find compatible software (but that would be true even if you found "New Old Stock" devices.)

Even with a receipt the warranty is not available to the second or subsequent owners.

I have had no trouble registering "purchased used" lenses to my MyCanon account.

Hi!

To have a better understanding of your issue, please let everyone know the model of printer you're working with as well as the operating system on the computer or mobile device you're printing from.

As for support, we require purchase date info to determine if the warranty is active, however it does not transfer so if you purchased it second hand a warranty would not be present.

I hope this clarifies!
