Details about CPS purchase discount at the Canon Store?

This is being promoted as a new benefit of CPS membership, but I cannot find particulars about the amount of the discount and exactly what it applies to:

CPS Member Exclusive Purchase Offer through the Canon Online Store (now also available for all new CPS Gold, Platinum, and Cinema members or current members after renewal or upgrade)

Hi AutoMatters,

Gold CPS members receive one Canon Online Store discount per year while Platinum and Cinema level members would receive two Canon Online Store discounts per year. They would only apply to purchases made through the Canon USA website, one one code can be used at a time, and the discount cannot be stacked with other discounts. The Canon Online Store discount through CPS membership is a 10% discount.

Could that 10% discount be used to purchase any one product from the Canon Online Store — even hard-to-get products? I just bought an R1 elsewhere. A 10% discount would have saved me a large amount of money.
