Phishing email claiming to come from Canon

I operate an online vocational school named Vocademy with an associated YouTube channel where I have my lecture videos. I recently got an email from someone purporting to be "Lisa," claiming to be Canon's Manager of Social Media Partnerships. She offered to collaborate with me to show advertisements for Canon in my videos. The email was well-made and looked legitimate. Nevertheless, I checked the original message and found that her email address is not associated with Canon (her address is wyjy25@onet.pl).

I asked for more information to see what happened. Her next email instructed me to install a program that she purported to be a contract for me to read and agree to. This program was in a zip file containing Windows (.exe) and Mac versions of the program.

There is no doubt whatsoever that this is a scam. I will never, and you must never install programs sent by email from anyone. This includes PDF files or Word documents sent from people you don't know. Even if they come from people you know, double-check with them to be sure it really came from them before opening the files.

Yes. This is fake. Our emails all end in cusa.canon.com or cits.canon.com, and we will almost never reach out to you by email as a first contact.

Canon do not use any other email address than one identified as Canon.com.
