I thnk it's safe to say that they're both superb for photography. The main difference is that the R5C is loaded with features for hard-core video shooters -- a cooling fan and a video-centric operting system are the main ones.

Howver the R5 is smaller and lighter, and also has IBIS, which the R5C does not; so if you're really just looking at stills photography, I'd say the R5 is a good bet. And if you later decide to shoot video, well the R5's video is still superb.

I actually reviewed both cameras, and in the R5C video I go through some of the differences, so this might help: https://moonblink.info/MudLake/gear

Thank you very much for advice.

i am just wondering if the image quality for still pictures will be the same for both cameras if mostly I am using it for wedding photography, because I am thinking to buy the newer version which is the R5C.

Thanks again 🙏

Greetings,

The cameras are identical for still image photography, except with the R5 C you don't get IBIS or "Hi-Resolution Shooting" aka (Pixel Shift). This is a feature that produces hi-res .JPEGs up to 400 MP. Cool feature, but not particularly useful for pro wedding photography. I always shoot in RAW for maximum flexibility.

2 biggest reasons to purchase the R5 C. Unlimited 8k recording, no limits with adequate power. Second, more recording formats available than what is provided on the standard R5.

Please do watch AtticusLake's (Ian's) videos. His videos are highly detailed and contain great data. Not to mention he lives in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Highland Beauty

The R5 received subsequent firmware updates that for the most part all but eliminated the recording limits due to overheating. If you are only going to record short 4k / 8k clips, and don't require the additional codecs offered on the R5 C, the R5 is perfect.

If you believe you may want to record extended 4k (60p) / 8k videos under demanding conditions, then the R5 C is a better option.

Still Image photography. Some people love IBIS. In my case, the Digital IS of my lenses does just fine. I'm steady without a tripod (usually) 😄. I did not need it for video, so I went with the R5 C.

The R5C isn't "the new version"; it's a cinema camera derived from the R5. The two cameras have the exact same sensor, so it's hard to see how the image quality could be different.

I would certainly recommend the R5C for video, but the main reason is just that the video-centric operating system is so much nicer to use. Yes, if you want to shoot 8k raw video, then that is also something the R5C does; but I've never done that myself.

For stills, I really think the R5 makes sense -- it's smaller and it has IBIS, which could be useful shooting handheld indoors, for example. Rick's points are all good, though.
