Canon UL3100CB - Is this a Fake?

My husband is looking at this Canon UL3100CB at the thrift store. Is this a real Canon?

If you linked something in your post, it didn't show up. In searching though on "UL3110CB", I did find a posting from 2012 at "The Photo Forum" where someone mentioned this about that item:

"It wasn't made by Canon. It's a cheap counterfeit made somewhere in Asia. The Canon name was put on it without Canon's permission."

I cannot verify though if that's indeed the case.

It appears to be a knockoff. Most places I found that are selling it, mostly auction and used gear dealers, say "Not Made By Canon" in the description. But there are several that don't.

Everything I found on line says this is not made by Canon and that it might be counterfeit or manufactured by a 3rd party. I have no idea. I don't see any value there. I'll leave it at that.
