suggestions wanted: Gang at home wanting to know what Canon product should a garage office use to capture it’s negatives. Reminder of the importance in creating an on set shop for interactive displays.

I would say a copystand, light table, good quality camera and a Macro lens. Like an R series or DSLR.

I don't think they have any transparency scanners anymore.

What resolution do you require?

I just did this for some old 1.5 x 1.5 slides that had a scan area larger than my Slide Scanner could handle. It works out pretty well

Most companies have abandoned film/negative scanners, but all of us seem to have a a box of old photos and, negatives and slides hanging around. If you want super compact, Amazon has a long list of film and negative scanners. Thats all they do, scan negatives. If you want a more elaborate set up, Kvbarkley's suggestion is excellent.
