Troubleshooting MP Navigator EX that freezes with more than 2 pages scanned

Hello

I have googled a lot and have not found anyone who has had my scanner problem: after finishing scanning with MP Navigator EX v2.13 on a Canon LIDE700F, if there are more than 2 pages (6 with 150 dpi grayscale) scanned the application just hangs / freezes forever. I basically must kill MP Navigator with Task Navigator after scanning each page, and restart, if I want to scan multiple document pages. System is Windows 8.1 64 bit. This did not happen with Windows 7 (could scan dozens of pages). Canon Switzerland said that I have the latest version and driver and did not suggest any other solutions. Before I start trying alternative scanner software, I thought I would try a user forum for any suggestions.
