Could you please tell us the make and model of this USB hub?

My retailer won't help me return it and neither will Canon.

Canon will only offer to repair it (doesn't need repairing as we all know) and the retailer is telling me that it is Canon's problem since the issue is with compatibility.

Really down dealing with this mess.

I have exactly the same problem with the CanoScan LiDE 220, what strikes me is that we both have a "Hi-End / Better" (ASUS) Computer System then the average computer user.

My System components are:

- Motherboard : ASUS X99 -A, S2011-3 , 8xDDR4 ATX
- Processor : Intel Xeon E5-1620V3 3.5GHz , 10MB , S2011-3
- Memory : LPX Corsair Vengeance 16GB ( 4x4GB ) 2400MHz CL14
- Video : nVidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2048MB OC

- OS : Windows 7 SP1 64-Bits

- Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers (different versions) many times...

- Tried different USB ports

- GRrrr@#$%&..

- Even a "Clean System installation" did not work...

it seems that the Canon products are not fully tested on the faster Computer Systems available today.....?

I have the exact same problem as you with my new Canon LiDE 120. The errors I get are: 2, 156, 182, 55 and sometimes 77 when using it on my Windows 8.1 (64 Bit) desktop PC. I have tried installing and uninstalling the drivers multiple times, used different ports and still nothing. It does however work properly on a Windows 7 device.

My PC's specification is as follows:

Windows 8.1 (64 Bit) - With latest updates

Avast Premier

Malwarebytes

ASUS z87 Pro

Intel 4770k

ASUS GTX 670 (4GB)

8GB 1600MHz Kingston RAM

Things I have done

Tried different ports (USB 2.0 and 3.0)

Installed all software & driver from CD

Installed all software & driver from Canon Website

Installed only the latest driver from Canon Website (April 2015)

Tried to use Windows Fax & Scan, Scan, IJ Scan Utility, Scangear and Vuescan.

What happens

The physical buttons on the device are unresponsive

The computer says it is warming up, but nothing happens

It starts to scan for a few seconds and then comes to an abrupt end - this can happen at 10% of the scan or even at 91%.

Surely the problem cannot be with Windows 8.1 since the device was only released last year. What could be the issue? I called their support line and was advised to clear the drivers of previous scanners used by my system, I did this and there still is no change. Could somebody please help me!

I get the same thing. The progress bar will stop at percentages that range anywhere from 10% to 90%. Any Canon tech support workers up in this forum that can help us out? The software is great. I love how on the less than 5% chance that my scan succeeds, I can easily CTRL+F and actually find words on it. It's just that the hardware is faulty. It's making me quite livid.

Thats correct and it didn't work! Today I connect my scanner to an old Windows 7 64-Bits system (ASUS P5Q / Intel® P45 chipset) everything works like a charm on that old system. So nothing wrong with the scanner, it must be a driver thing who has problems with the support of the newer chipsets.

Is there not anyone out there that will help us? Maybe we posted in the wrong thread? Perhaps a mod could move this thread for me? I purchased this scanner with my hard earned money and I really don't want it to become a paper weight because of some drivers that refuse to communicate with my computer.

Anyone?

I have a new LIDE 220 on Win 8.1 x64.

I have the errors:2,156, 3 (6, 12, 73, 82, 113, 177)

On other forums, some people are recommending changing of the scanner cable.

I tried:

- 12 USB cables of length between 75-150 cm.
- Y cable, with 2 standard A plugs, (HAMA 39748), in order to have more power.
- tried shielded and double shielded cables.

I have the same errors.

Problem:

The problem on my computer is incompatibility of LIDE with ASMEDIA USB 3.0 driver (I have an ASMEDIA chip on my MB).

I tried all ASMEDIA drivers available (8 versions) - the same errors.

I tried also to uninstall ASMEDIA drivers (to let Windows to use his own Microsoft drivers). It is working several times but, after that, the errors are returning.

My solution:

I did a clean install of Win 8.1 and the scanner is working OK.

I tried also Win 10, build 10130 and it's OK.

It's important to let Windows to instal his own USB drivers (from Microsoft), and not installing any ASMEDIA drivers.

I have logged into safe-mode and the errors still persist.

I have contacted Canon support directly too and they also offer no solution. I will try to contact Canon to see what options are now available to me.

I have CanoScan Lide 120, which was working perfectly fine on Win7, now that I have upgraded to Win10 it does not work anymore. I get an error 2,156,167. Have tried to uninstall the driver, found new one on official website, but it didn't help.

Scanner makes noise, like it's going to start scaning, but then nothing happens. When I use the preview function, it actually starts scanning, but stops somewhere in the middle (at 7%, 18%, ...)

My specs:

OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Pro
Version 10.0.10240 Build 10240
Other OS Description Not Available
OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation
System Name NEW-PC
System Manufacturer ASUS
System Model All Series
System Type x64-based PC
System SKU All
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-4130 CPU @ 3.40GHz, 3400 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. 0803, 7.1.2014
SMBIOS Version 2.7
Embedded Controller Version 255.255
BIOS Mode Legacy
BaseBoard Manufacturer ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC.
BaseBoard Model Not Available
BaseBoard Name Base Board
Platform Role Desktop
Secure Boot State Unsupported
PCR7 Configuration Binding Not Possible
Windows Directory C:\WINDOWS
System Directory C:\WINDOWS\system32
Boot Device \Device\HarddiskVolume1
Locale Slovenija
Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "10.0.10240.16392"
User Name NEW-PC\Gašper
Time Zone Central Europe Daylight Time
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 8,00 GB
Total Physical Memory 7,68 GB
Available Physical Memory 4,73 GB
Total Virtual Memory 15,4 GB
Available Virtual Memory 12,1 GB
Page File Space 7,75 GB
Page File C:\pagefile.sys
Hyper-V - VM Monitor Mode Extensions Yes
Hyper-V - Second Level Address Translation Extensions Yes
Hyper-V - Virtualization Enabled in Firmware No
Hyper-V - Data Execution Protection Yes

Based on what you have said I am beginning to suspect that the issue may be related to the Motherboard. I have the ASUS Z87 Pro.

I have the same issue. I bought the LiDE 120 scanner in February 2015 and it has worked fine on Windows 7, then Windows 8/8.1 and recently on Windows 10. I switched on my laptop one morning last week and the scanner didnt work, exhibiting the symptoms described here (error code 2,156,73).

At first I thought the scanner was faulty or perhaps the USB cable. I changed the cable, no difference. I downloaded and installed the latest Windows10 driver and software from Canon, no change. I did the functional test on Scangear, the scan arm went from one end to the other and back with no problem and Scangear reported the scanner was working properly.

If the scanner was working properly before I have to wonder what has changed? My immedaite thought woud be some other software that was installed like a Windows update, but people are reporting this problem for some time so I still think it must be a hardware fault??

I have this problem with LiDE 220 also It was there already with Win 8.1, but it is now even worse with Win 10 (Build 10240). In fact, the problem appears almost every time when I restrict the area being scanned and use some magnification, say 130%. When I scan at 100%, the problem appears later, but it will ALWAYS appear sooner or later. Unplugging USB cable helps, but I hate to do it before every scan.

I also have a "high-end" PC, with Intel Core i7-4790K CPU 4.00 GHz (Haswell) and ASUS Z97-AR motherboard.

This error drives me grazy. Because I couldn't find any reason for problem in my PC, I asked the seller to replace the unit. I got the new scanner, but the problem remains...

Well, hopefully programmers have found enough evidence to take a closer look at the issue. I have not yeat found solution to my problem. The fact is, scanner was working perfectly fine on Win7, after the upgrade to Win10 it simply does not.
